In The Cookie Jar - On Hiatus...

That's right...

we're taking a break from the cookie making.

We've had a great time - me and my three cookie monster's, but recent events have forced us to go on hiatus...

"Why", you ask?

Let me share with you the weather forecast...

Tuesday, June 2nd - 85 degrees

Wednesday, June 3rd - 85 degrees

Thursday, June 4th - 86 degrees

Friday, June 5th - 72 degrees

You get the picture, right?

We feel so lucky to have this gorgeous weather and, by the looks of it, there's plenty more to come!

But how does this have anything to do with cookies?

We're in the Pacific Northwest.
The very rainy Pacific Northwest.

80 degrees is pretty darn warm up here in our neck of the woods, especially when we're not equipped with the luxury of having air conditioning at our fingertips!

Don't get me wrong - I am NOT complaining! We have been waiting for this! It was a long winter and an even longer and dismal spring.
The sun has finally come out and we're loving it!

But you can understand why we're not so keen on the idea of turning on the oven...

Plugging in every fan we own can only do so much in an already hot house - no need to go adding more heat!

So, until further notice, you can find me and the cookie monster's out on the deck with tall glasses of lemonade and half-moon's of watermelon!

Stay tuned though because Owen and I have big plans for filling the cookie jar again!

We're just going to have to start exploring the No-Bake recipes...

Good for you and the not cooking agenda. It has been so hot here, 93 by 10 a.m., but that is to be expected! I live in the South. What you are having is quite unusual, no?

I use my crockpot so much in the summertime. I love to bake, but it does get so hot. If I don't bake either very early or very late, it doesn't get done.

I can't wait until the next cookie installment.

I hear ya! I live in the PNW as well and this whole no AC is just about to kill me. We had ham and turkey wraps for dinner because there was no way I was turning on an oven!

Gena - exactly! Late night or early morning...but then the kids are asleep and that defeats the act of baking together!! I'm glad that you can sympathize! Thanks! :)

mommieof4munchkins - we had turkey sandwiches and watermelon! :) LOL! It's so hot that none of us are even really that hungry! Can you believe the forecast?? :)

Thanks for visiting! XO

Don't blame you one bit. ;)

Enjoy the weather. I try to use my oven as little as possible in the summer. We have AC, but when it is 110 outside it doesn't matter. No ovens allowed!

I look forward to the new recipes.

Can't say I blame you one bit! It is getting warm here in the Northeast, too, and soon we will have nasty humidity to go along with the heat. I can't even fathom turning on the oven. In the summer we are all about either cooking on the grill or eating cold stuff (salads and such) and snacks are...ice cream! Can't beat ice cream on a hot day!

Hi i just found your blog a few days ago and can I say... I love it!! I love all the projects you have on here. I do have a question for you about the board and batten project, I have been wanting to do something in our kitchen and living room to change things up a bit and make our house more than just a cookie cutter house. I want to try this project in the kids bathroom first though. I see on yours you painted it white, traditionallly was the board and batten always white? Im thinking of doing a lighter shade of blue than whats already on the walls in the boys bathroom once its installed. Probably a dumb question but just wondering. Thanks and thank you for all the great inspiration!!

Oh Karla, I use to live in Bend Ore. and I remember how hot I thought 86 was. I live in the desert now and it's been up to 107 already. I would love to go back, but we do have AC so that is a blessing. Thanks for joining our Cloche Party. It is scheduled for Fri. June 19th and Mr. Linky will be up on Thurs. June 18th by 8pm. Some of the ladies are going to show their apothecary jars they decorate. So please feel free to show both or either. I can't wait, this should be fun to see everyone's creations. Thanks again. Hugs, Marty
