Just Around The Corner...

The 4th of July will be here before we know it!

Here are some fun ideas to make your celebration beautiful!

..........

Star Lanterns

Use a star stencil and colored vellum to make red and blue stars. Glue them to white paper bags. For beautiful (and safe) illumination, use a small tap light instead of a candle.

..........

Star Spangled Pinwheels

These patriotic pinwheels are easy to make and fun to see spinning in the breeze on the Fourth of July. All you need are a few basic materials.

Lawn Stars

This Fourth of July, let a few lawn stars brighten up your celebration. They're ideal alongside a walkway or next to your picnic table.

..........

Pinwheel Entrance

Add some patriotism to your porch by putting red, white, and blue pinwheels into rustic buckets and watering cans filled with sand.

..........

Red, White and Blue Parfaits

For a sweet treat that doesn't pack on the calories, try this pretty parfait. Layer blueberries, low-fat vanilla yogurt, and strawberries in a tall glass and serve cold. For an alternative to vanilla yogurt, try strawberry or raspberry.

This last idea is my favorite!
I would love to do this for any evening occasion in an outdoor setting!

Only 5 days to go...

We're already hearing fireworks at night!

Do you have big plans for your 4th of July celebration?

Traditions that carry on year after year?

If so, I would love to hear about them!

Cool ideas!

Our Canada Day is today. We generally are at a campground that has a parade, pancake breakfast at the firehall, then fireworks at 10pm on the beach. A whole lotta rah rah.

But this year we are parked at a very quiet local campground. We plan to have a picnic lunch on the riverside and listen to the gurgle of the water over the rocks. Then light our campfire and enjoy the quiet evening. Very different for us, but more suitable this year for a variety of reasons.

Hi there Karla!

Yes!!! It IS the little things that make a house a home... :-)

Loved the flour star idea. How clever! I'm going to put that one into the memory bank for sure....

Blessings from your fellow Pacific Northwesterner!

Great links! :) We never do anything for the 4th b/c T is always working. :( For some reason, our county hosts the fireworks before the 4th, and I'm not sure if the city will have them or not. Not willing to brave DC either....

I loooove everything! The 4th is definately one of my favorite holidays! It became even more special when my hubby proposed overlooking the Mississippi 2 years ago...our tradition now is to go back to that same spot and see the fireworks over the river! love it!

I found your blog a day or two ago and I just have to say how inspiring it is! I have gotten more ideas from you than I can handle!
We are in the long process of closing on our first house and I can't wait to start some of your projects. (Your walls, redone fireplaces, door numbers, etc.) Thanks so much for sharing your home! Seriously, we are living in hard times (think hotel for over a month with 3 kids and a cat) and your blog helps put me in a wonderful mood!

The chalk lawn stars could be used for other things besides 4th of July. It's a great idea!
