Our Biggest Project Yet...

Welcome to our dining room!

An 11 foot by 11.5 foot space that sits unused 364 days a year...

Thanksgiving dinner is its only claim to fame!

But that's all about to change...

What was this:

is now this:

And this:

is now this:

A blank slate waiting to be transformed...

Will is at Lowe's right now picking up 2x4's, sheet rock, tape, mud, wall texture and trim.

The french doors have been ordered and our design plan feels right!

This space is on track to become a room that is used all day, every day instead of a room that we just look at and walk past.

We're very excited!

I'll keep you posted as the changes are made!

P.S. I still need to post about our old house in Arizona, as well as how the lemonade bar turned out for my sister-in-law's bridal shower. I am happy to report that the recipes we picked were delicious! Thanks so much for all your help by giving me your opinions!
August has turned into an extremely busy month, and with only a little over two weeks before school starts, I don't see us catching a break at all! But I will definitely catch up on my posts once September rolls around.
Can you believe that it is really almost September?

What a pretty room--curious to see what its new function will be! We converted our dining room into a home office--we had to add a wall and a French door--it has turned out to be a terrific decision, as that room is heavily used every day now. Have you read The Not So Big House? A great book & philosophy about designing homes that fit the way we really live today (ie: who needs a formal living room and formal dining room anyway!?)

Very Very Smart! I am also about to embark on turning my living room into my office, which also gets used only on holidays, what wasted space. Can't wait to see what you do...Janell

How exciting!!

We closed off our formal living room and made a home office. The best thing we could have done, love it!

I look forward to the tranformation

Cool!

I just changed my kitchen table area into my office as we use the kitchen island to eat from.

Congrats on utilizing ALL the real estate in your home! It just really makes sense.

I'm dying to see what you do with this space. We left our dining room empty for three years debating on whether to actually make it a dining space. In the end, Thanksgiving dinner won and in it sits a table, chairs and a buffet. I'm dressing it up as we speak. But alas, the room never gets used.

Do you have room elsewhere for hosting dinner?

I cannot WAIT to see what you do. I use my dining room every day, but I use it as my office. It still has dining room furniture in it, but I should just change it over. It sure would be more practical for me!
