Window Shopping A Garage Sale...

...from the comfort of my own home.

It was nice!

I didn't even realize that the neighbor was having a garage sale until Will left to go to an appointment and called me shortly after he left:

Will: Did you see the neighbors yard?

Me: No....why?

(thinking it must be something horrible like they had been T.P.'d or their cars had been egged - I started walking towards the window right away)

Will: Just go look. You'll want to see what's...

(before he could even finish his sentence)

Me: *GASP* - oh my goodness!

Will: I'll be back shortly.

Their entire driveway was covered in items that they were selling and it looked like good stuff!

I immediately started surveying the scene and that's when I saw this...

I have wanted to get a chair like this for so long, but my husband doesn't like chairs resembling anything having to do with wicker, or rattan or anything of the handwoven nature. Since chairs like this aren't cheap, I had decided it was best not to get one.

That is, until my neighbor was selling hers at her garage sale!

It still has some of the packaging left on it...

And aside from a teeny-tiny bit of wear on the arms, the whole chair looks brand new!

It even came with a cushion.

A perfectly clean cushion!

It's obviously from Ikea (you can tell from the leftover packaging), so I looked it up online.

It's a $50 chair, plus the $14.99 cushion.

That's a $65 investment.

Want to know how much I got it for? Cushion and all?

A whopping $10

Nice!

The kids love the new chair. And it's even cozier than I thought it would be.

And guess who else sits in it...

yep - the handwoven-ratan-hater himself!

Ha!

I knew he would come around.

Did you come across any great garage sale finds?

Either way, I hope your weekend was wonderful!

P.S. Every week Rhoda has a blog party over at Southern Hospitality. To get in on the fun, just post your weekend finds and Thrifty Treasures. Everyone is welcome to participate!

What a find! I happen to love (just about) all things handwoven and that chair is a great addition.
Oh, btw I just wanted to say thank you for adding my blog to your blogroll. I've been getting a good amount of traffic from here. It's very much appreciated.
Have a wonderful week!

I love it! It looks like a great chair to relax in by a window.
I saw a pair of chairs like this for over $80! And they were not half as good as yours! Good find.

Wow! Great buy!! I'd be all over that purchase too. At least your neighbors had good stuff to sell. Can't say the same for mine. ;)

I have always wanted one of those chairs, maybe my neighbor will sell theirs one day and I can buy it. They have some lovely rattan! You did good getting it for only $10. Hugs, Cindy S.

That is a good deal. I love wicker, rattan and all the other woven furniture pieces. Will you leave it natural or go the way of the spray paint gang in blog land who do the most amazing things with their cans of paint?

Fantastic buy! I think it's the perfect chair for lounging in and it's obviously got "secret" powers if it won over even the staunchest of rattan haters!

Now that is a great buy!
I bought a fabulous Ib Koford Larsen chair at a tag sale. No one would believe what I paid. Let's just say it makes me happy when we get great bargains on beautiful things.

BTW I like your red door 'welcome' feature. I painted my front door RED today! Color makes a difference!

I love your chair! I also love garage sales! I just picked up 2 perfectly good adirondack chairs for $6 each, re-painted them and then ended up re-doing my whole porch to match! Check out my blog and see!
