5 Days Of Giveaway's - Day #5: It's The Little Things...

It is the final day of our

5 Days Of Giveaway's Party

to celebrate our 1st birthday here at

It's The Little Things...

and we couldn't think of a better way to mark the occasion than by giving a little piece of ourselves, to you. As you know, we've always got a project going on around here, and at the core of it all, helping me turn my vision into a reality, is Will's time and effort, taking care of all the carpentry out in his shop. I couldn't make half of the things I do in our home happen without his support and carpentry skills.

But this time, instead of building something for me, he's going to build for you!

The giveaway gift for today is a

$150.00 Gift Certificate

to spend in our Etsy shop - Home Restyle - where we sell our

Reproduction Antique Riddling Racks

I discovered Riddling Racks earlier this year and immediately knew that it was exactly the kind of "wow factor" I was looking for in our (then) dining room.

But the price of genuine Antique Riddling Racks stopped me in my tracks! The price tag of $650.00 (and up to well over $1000.00) plus tax and shipping, made even the thought of having one of our own, an impossibility.

Luckily, I have my own carpenter...

It took only a small amount of convincing to get Will on board with the idea, and by the next day (and tons of saw dust and wood shavings later), we had a brand new Riddling Rack. But...brand new was not what I was going for. I wanted old. Beat up, old. So that's what we did. After quite a bit of distressing, I applied several layers of finish to give the overall color tons of variation and depth, making it look aged and rustic.

It has been on display in our home ever since, and it is one of my favorite things we own. The best part - that it was handmade by Will. It no longer hangs in our dining room (that's now a bedroom), but I found the perfect spot for it in our

Now, instead of holding wine bottles, it holds candle light.

Take a look at how we have used ours over the past 8 months and get a closer look at the details...

Our Reproduction Antique Riddling Racks hold 36 bottles of wine. They are just shy of 2' wide and just over 3' tall.

Head over to our Etsy shop - Home Restyle - to get all of the details.

Once again, this giveaway is our way of saying "Thank You" to all of you!

You make our online journaling more than just a place to collect our projects and inspiration.

You make this a truly, fun place to be!

Here is all you need to do to enter:

Leave us a comment telling us what you would do with a Reproduction Antique Riddling Rack of your own.

Would you keep it for yourself? Is it just the "wow factor" that you've been looking for?

Or would you give it away to a friend or loved one? Maybe as a gift to the "wine connoisseur" in your family? I must say, I would be thrilled to receive a Riddling Rack as a Christmas gift!

Want to enter a second time?

Blog about the giveaway and leave a separate comment with the link to your post.

How about a third?

If you are a follower of

It's The Little Things...

leave us another comment.

You deserve to add your name into the hat a third time!

This giveaway will be open to enter only on December 11th!

Just 24 hours to get your name entered in.

This giveaway, as well as the other four, will end at midnight on Friday (Dec. 11th).

The winners of all 5 Giveaway's will be announced on Saturday, December 12th...

our first birthday!

Good luck to you all!

I can't wait to see who wins this one!

With 15-month old twins our house is as boring as can be, anything on reach-height had to be removed to avoid accidents. I would love to win this stunning riddling rack so we have a special feature that the kids can't break!
(And believe me, after a day with busy twins I need a glass of wine!)

What would I do with a riddling rack... hmm...

#1. Definately KEEP it for myself, because it would be from a bloggy friend that I hope to meet one day. And besides, I'd request she and he sign the back of the rack so I could glance at it now and then with a smile.

#2. I could do 101 things with this sweet thing. I could see it on 'that' big empty wall as I come upstairs, hung right in the middle with other cool artifacts hanging around it, all equally rustic. Oh yes, I love that! I'd see it every minute of every day that way!

Or I have a nice empty wall in the hallway that this would enhance nicely. It's flat and wouldn't require losing realestate in a tight area.

Hmmm... I could also see it mounted from the ceiling as a light medallion that I require above my kitchen island.. or shall I suspend it with chain just a tad for more of a pot rack kind of idea?

Or how about a table top piece with glass/plexi covering it? Place some cool vintage finds in the holes for fun.

And then I could always lean it on my fireplace mantel and layer it with other cool stuff.

Shall I go on or have I bored all of you to death yet?!?

Honestly? When I bring a new piece home, I dash from room to room with a million different visions bouncing through my mind. And I know when I've come to the right decision when that last idea stops you in your tracks and you think, PERFECT. It's never leaving this space!

This one I would have to keep for myself...and I would copy you and put tealights in it; in the bedroom or den. Thanks for the chance.

HJ. said...

I'd keep it but instead of putting wine in it most likely use it for flavored espresso syrups . . . we like coffee much more than wine =)

Anonymous said...

I WANT THIS! I saw when you made it, and drooled over it then. This would probably go in my bathroom with candles for the little extra something, or in my dining room...it may hover between the two spaces till I decide where I like it best!

I've always admired this in your home! We don't drink wine, but neither do most of the people we know. SO, because it is so beatiful, I think Id find a way to keep it my house! I'd just trade out the wine for the tealights or something.
Your husbands carpentry skills combined with your decorating skills make for such a beautiful home!!!

I think I'd use it as a jewelry holder - just like you did for the candles, but put earrings in the glass cups instead. My jewelry is piled in a heap right now on the dresser, and it takes me 10 minutes just to find a pair of earrings that match! :)

I stayed behind over Thanksgiving weekend to have the place to myself, tired of all the half done projects. I finished painting the dining room a shade called root beer that I love and got the side table set up with all my favorite wine bottle candles and saved corks. Yet there is nothing on the walls and this would be beyond perfect for the theme of the room. Plus I could finally have a place for the saved bottles that are in teh garage!

He loves wine, and it would make a lovely piece to display those special bottles.

Okay, my follower comment...the title of your blog Karla is what attracted me to it. You are so right, it IS the LITTLE things. Those special touches that only you and your family can contribute. I have never been a fan of decorator showhomes (or those done by designers)...while they ARE beautiful to look at, I prefer to walk into a home put together with love by its occupants...you really get to know the family that way!

YAY!!!! I never win ANYTHING! So happy to have won the surprise package from Bella's Bowtique! And YES, I did order something (Christmas gifts for three baby neices), so I guess I get that for free, too! Double Yay!

Ok, I have to speak to the irony here: I have two little boys. Who don't wear bows. Or cute beanie hats with flowers. BUT, I have NINE neices, six of whom are of age to really appreciate the goodies! And since I have boys, I'm not opposed to a flower in my hair at times to up the girly quotient in our home :) Thanks so much!!
