Windstorms, and Power Outages, and Earthquakes! Oh My!

We've had it all over the past 18 hours!

The wind was absolutely unreal last night and caused power outages all over Western Washington...

Luckily, we were spared from that, but other parts of Tacoma were not, and as a result our school district made the decision for a 2 hour late start.

So the boys are still at home with me, having a super fun and totally out of the ordinary, Tuesday morning.

Currently they are singing their hearts out playing Rock Band - Bon Jovi being the artist of choice this morning.

:)

And then, as if the crazy storm wasn't enough, we had an earthquake.

Seriously.

It was short and sweet for us, with the epicenter being down in Mossyrock, WA...

But for me, an earthquake is an earthquake. Unnerving, at best.

So, needless to say, my morning is not turning out as planned. My To-Do list will have to wait.

But it's ok. I'll take it.

It's more fun to hang out and play with the kids anyway.

...............................................

I hope that you are having a wonderful Tuesday!

Im out in Maple Valley and the district first said 2 hours late then they cancel it. The kids are loving it. I work for the district and was up at 5 waiting for the phone calls to start :)
Didn't feel the earthquake thou, but when I told the kids they said isn't that by Mt. Saint Helens?

Here in thurston county we felt the quake and my daughter's school was canceled due to power outs. Nothing broke or was hurt down here as far as we can tell.

Wow, this whole time I've been following your blog and didn't realize you lived in the Seattle area. I live up north, east of Everett and we sure did experience the wind up here! I heard several trees crack and fall over in the greenbelt behind us and the roads were a mess. School was on time and we got power back thank goodness! Can't believe about the earthquake!!

Now that I know you're here local... I need to pay attention to anything you share that is local! BTW... is there a Home Goods in the Seattle area yet?? We definitely need it!!

We are in central Washington and boy did the wind blow last night. The dog kept barking at all hours of the night and I would get up and turn on the flood light to see what was going on. It blew our back gate open and our large garbage can was rolling down the alley. Crazy. I remember feeling the Seattle quake several years ago. I was in my car and it started shaking. I thought I had lost my mind.

Earthquake?!?! We live a little north of you and I hadn't heard about the earthquake. I was really hoping for a school related power outage, but no luck. Ooooh, but wait, there's snow in the forecast for Monday! Happy teacher!!!

Your neighbors are coming out of the woodwork! I'm in Gig Harbor and had no idea you were so close. We just got our power back on late last night, so I hadn't seen TV and was glad to see your clip...nice to know you are my neighbor

WOW! You all have really had a quite an experience... and with an earthquake on top of it all. I've been in a few of those and they're something you never forget.
Yes, it always is a rude awakening when we find out how dependant we are on our electronics. Glad y'all are okay though!

The wind was pretty insane here on the East coast (RI) too..., which is not so unusual actually..., no earthquakes though..., in fact I've never experience one.
